Fun Fact; My last name isn't Lorraine like most people think, its my middle name! My last name is actually Dunn, but I wanted the double consonant ?
I first met Eliza and Chester at the dock of Sunshine Coast Air where they met for an emotional first look and a few photos with some family and their furbaby Elliot before departing, just the two of them, for their adventurous Sunshine Coast B.C Elopement. Eliza wanted to get married with her toes in the sand of Thormanby Island and Chester wanted to take in the sights of one of B.C’s largest and most impressive waterfalls, Chatterbox Falls, located at the Princess Louisa inlet just a short floatplane ride from our little coastal town. But this isn’t where their adventure truly begins…
Chester and Eliza’s story is a bit of an adventure right from when they first met. Eliza, originally from Toronto, was completing her dentistry studies abroad in Ireland when she first met Chester. After falling in love with that gorgeous smile of hers (that you can see in all of the photos!!), Chester moved from his home in Cape Town to be with her while she finished her program. They lived in Ireland for three years together before moving and finally settling into their new home on the west coast in Vancouver B.C. If that isn’t a romantic beginning of a relationship I don’t know what is!
Like many couples, Eliza and Chester’s previous plans for their wedding had to be postponed due to the pandemic. But choosing not to focus on the loss of their previously planned wedding in Cape Town, these two decided to focus on themselves and the most important reason behind their original wedding plans, wanting to be married and spend the rest of their lives together.
With their already exciting relationship beginning, coming from homes across the world to be together, they were looking for adventure and spontaneity, as well as something that truly embraced being the B.C locals they had chosen to become together. They happened upon our B.C Elopement Adventure Packages to remote locations in our area here on the Sunshine Coast and decided that taking a seaplane to a beautiful secluded spot where neither of them had ever been before to exchange their vows in an exclusive and private setting was the perfect way to say their “I do’s” As Eliza said, “Before there was anyone else, there was us – Just the two of us.”
Eliza – “I was beside myself the entire day, but if I had to choose one highlight I would have to say it was the moment we were in the floatplane just before landing on the shore off Thormanby Island. I was looking out the windows trying to figure out where it was that pilot Josh had decided we were going to land. That would forever be the spot where Ches and I would hold close to our hearts- the spot where we exchanged our vows. I was so excited and completely beside myself in awe of the beauty below. I couldn’t believe this was actually happening.”
They flew first to Thormanby Island and walked the shores together hand in hand looking for the perfect spot, settling on a space somewhat down the sandy shore where there were two logs buried in the ground from beachgoers past, forming pillars to stand between that almost felt like it was made just for them. They said their vows, handwritten in personalized vow books, privately in the most sincere way, comfortable knowing they could be their true selves in what was written and said. After paling around on the beach and taking a few photos the pair set out on the second leg of their adventure to sign their elopement papers and finish their wedding portraits at the base of the gorgeous Chatterbox falls.
– ” Everything just ran so smoothly! From make-up and hair with Fuzhan at the Rockwater to being whisked off in a floatplane by pilot Josh and exchanging our vows with Cathie as the officiant, it would all not have come together without Melissa and we would not have the beautiful visual memories to look back on without the amazing photos taken by Paige. It was all a dream come true with the most amazing team! We are so happy we left ourselves in the hands of this amazing team. Thank you for picking the most beautiful places for us to get married at, and for making it all so easy!”
